Happy Christmas to you and yours from the team at Murray Bridge News.

Our December 22, 2022 edition was our last for the year.

We’ll be back in the office on January 9, 2023, and our next edition will be on January 12.

That said, managing editor Peri Strathearn will still be around over the break, passing on whatever helpful information I can about the River Murray floods.

When people ask us why they should pay $5 a month for a local news service, that’s the reason.

We’re locally owned and operated.

We’ll be here when you need us.

We tell you about upcoming events in our region, we sit through council meetings to make sure your ratepayer dollars are being well spent, we counter the national media’s negativity about Murray Bridge, and we’re generally on call 24-seven as we juggle family and other commitments.

If that’s not worth $5 a month, I don’t know what is.

Hey, Murray Bridge News subscriptions make great Christmas presents, too.

Anyway: thanks to our more than 600 paying subscribers and our advertising clients.

With your support, we’ve published 715 stories this year – wow!

We’ve also opened an office, hired a journalist, moved into a different office, hired an advertising person, hired another journalist after the first one left, and even printed a newspaper and started exploring the future of local news – phew.

Onwards and upwards.

Again, have a great Christmas and new year if you can, stay safe and dry, and we’ll be back in your inbox in 2023.
