Viki Ntafillis celebrates her last day at Murray Bridge News
There have been so many highlights over the last few months, one of which has been meeting everyone in the Bridge.
It is with much sadness that I say today is my last day with Murray Bridge News.
Just over five months ago, I was honoured to be picked as MBN’s first ever employee.
In my first article, I said I was eager to hear all your stories and share them with the wider community.
Today, I can happily say that I have met so many of you and have been lucky enough to hear your countless memories, perspectives, opinions and, of course, news.
As a history buff, I consider myself lucky enough to have reported on several centenaries – people were really getting stuff done in 1922 – including Burdett Hall, Monteith Hall, Jervois Primary School, and even a 100-plus-one with the legendary Lorna Grundy.
As a foodie, I thoroughly enjoyed writing about Rio Vista’s produce extraordinaire event, Kelly Johnson and Lot 23, and Mypo’s running for the ag town of the year.
Meeting everyone involved in community groups through Join In and Come and Try was also a treat.
Nothing beat asking someone about their favourite pastime, and watching their eyes light up as they prepared to tell me everything about it and all the reasons they loved it so.
Before working here, I’d never actually visited Murray Bridge.
Now I can safely say it is one of my favourite places on Earth, because here, I know I’ve had one of the best jobs of my career.
If there is anything I would ask from the community at large, it is to please continue supporting Peri and the rest of the Murray Bridge News team.
This is a region to be proud of, and MBN will always be happy to tell you why.
