Things to do in the Murraylands: September 11-17, 2026

The Supercars race at Tailem Bend will not be the only major motor sport event on in the Murraylands this weekend.

Murray Bridge Speedway’s 2026-27 season will open on Saturday with the usual fanfare, including more than 70 nominated cars across wingless sprints, street stocks, modified and junior sedans.

Numerous changes have occurred behind the scenes at the racetrack over the off-season.

Queensland-based operator Barry Waldron and his company, Made Too Go, wound up retaining a lease over the venue in April after issuing, then withdrawing, a call for expressions of interest from other parties.

Since then, the speedway has introduced a new championship structure, volunteer rewards program and other programs.

The upcoming season will feature 19 race nights, including two state championships in March.

The 2025-26 speedway season was brought to a premature end in March as fuel prices spiked across Australia, making the final race meet of the season non-viable.

Participants and fans will hope brighter days lie ahead, starting this Saturday night.

This weekly feature is brought to you by Machinery Distributors Australia – delivering machinery solutions across Australia.
