We can all blame Lawerance Crack.

He was the person who invited his Riverland mate to come and play at Murray Bridge Golf Club on Saturday.

His buddy fronted up for just his second ever competition round, and on a foreign course, to boot.

Well, by day's end Cracky's mate Alex Lemi had come, seen and conquered.

His pockets were overflowing with Murray Bridge cash after plundering 43 Stableford points to win the day with ease.

His round, remarkably, included four "scrubs" โ€“ zero-point holes โ€“ but was littered with three- and four-point holes, which really got his scorecard moving.

This can often be the story for C-graders.

Anyway, it was a very profitable visit from Lemi but he headed home with his 35 handicap having been shaved back to 28 for his next round, wherever that may be.

Golf always wins in the end.

It was a tough school in A grade, where veteran Barry Preston tied with the rapidly up-and-coming youngster Cohen Naughton on 40 points before Bazza prevailed on a countback.

Ball-thumping Craig Owens won B grade with 38 points, while Zane Barry took the C grade with 39.

Murray Bridge bowlers keep winning

Murray Bridge are well clear at the top of the table with a 15 shot win over Mannum, two rinks up.

Darren McIntosh, Tony Trewren, Troy Penhall and Paul Smart remain undefeated this season after a routine 21-12 win over Marty March, Graham Wakefield, Peter Wegner and Garry Odgers.

March scored two on the opening end, but by the break McIntosh had asserted himself with a 15-5 lead and was in control.

Mcintosh could only score six singles in the run home, while March added three two's and a single to reduce the margin by one.

Andrew Stasinowsky, Brian Traeger, Helen Lindner and Ben Traeger also preserved their undefeated status with a 22-10 win over David Kempe, Ron Van Tijn, Graham Leathers and Rodney Grigg.

Neither side could break away early, but a three to Kempe on the 10th gave him an 8-6 lead before Staz immediately retaliated with a five to go to the break three shots up.

Kempe was unable to have an impact in the second half, adding just two more singles, while Staz added a further seven singles as well as a four on the 19th to romp to an easy win.

Gavin Pfeiffer, Tom Towns, Ian Windebank and Colin Campion salvaged two points for the visitors with a 20-14 win over Aaron Jones, Bruce Attrill, Charlie DiSanto and Brian Leckie.

Jones started well with wins on the first three ends to go up 4-0, but a four and three in successive ends soon had Pfeiffer in front.

Jones continued to win his share of ends, but with nothing better than a two struggled to close the gap.

A three to Pfeiffer on the final end secured two points

Jervois have jumped to second with a comprehensive all rinks win over Karoonda at Jervois, with Karoonda falling to the foot of the ladder.

Shawn Hicks, Heather Fromm, Bruce Smith and Neil Morris broke away with a late flurry to beat Ian Symonds, Belinda O'Malley, Tarryn Turner and John Wegner 26-14 despite winning just ten ends.

Symonds won the first three ends to go four up, but scores were tight from there with both sides taking the lead at times and tying the scores at 12 apiece after 16 ends.

But three ends later the contest was effectively over as Hicks piled on four, six and four to take a 14 shot lead in the blink of an eye.

Symonds scored singles on the final two ends, but the damage had been done.

Derek Vanderzon, Graham Fromm, Len Gommers and John McEntee made a good start against Erin O'Malley, Garry Mason, Damon Fromm and Malcolm Waechter with two three's in the first four ends, and with a five on the 11th went into the break leading 17-4.

Mason and O'Malley came out firing after the break, and with four ends on the trot the margin was reduced to six shots before Vanderzon was able to stem the flow, going on to a comfortable ten shot win, 24-14.

Graeme Herbert, Jeremy Scannell, Graham Schenke and Stuart McCulloch eventually overhauled Rowan Zadow, Rohan Tomkinson, Jayden Turner and Bill Cornish after a mid game slump saw them trail 7-11 after 13 ends.

Herbert won seven of the final eight ends, adding 12 shots to three.

Those three to Zadow came on the 18th end, and had him back in the game, trailling by two shots with three ends to go.

But Herbert closed out the game with three singles for a 19-14 win.
