Diamond Park will light up with fire, food and fun later this month for the second edition of the Murray Bridge Glows festival.

The winter event, which debuted last year, will return from 5.30-9.30pm on August 24.

It will feature:

  • A bonfire, fire artists and fire trees
  • Horse and carriage rides
  • Live entertainment from the Tal-Kin-Jeri dance group and Bait Fridge collective
  • A silent disco
  • Food and drinks for purchase

Mayor Wayne Thorley said he looked forward to the event.

“It will be a great night for the family to get out and have a good old time,” he said.

“We look forward to seeing everyone at Diamond Park for a night of fun and enjoyment.”

The Glows festival was moved away from the riverfront this year to avoid any clash with the demolition work going on at the city’s wharf.

Last year’s festival was originally proposed as a one-off replacement for Murray Bridge’s New Year’s Eve fireworks, which were cancelled due to flooding in 2022.

However, council staff suggested that it had been a success worth repeating.

The council budgeted $55,000 for this year’s version, and had hoped to find $10,000 worth of sponsorship, but no sponsor has yet been announced.

Murray Bridge’s New Year’s Eve fireworks will also return this year in the end, but with only a $15,000 budget from the council and $35,000 worth of sponsorship, and only after more than 1000 people signed a petition calling for it.
