The Murray Bridge Library Community Photography Club has lit up the Murraylands Skills Centre with a hands-on workshop exploring the magic of flash and continuous lighting.
Led by club member and retired ABC technical producer Bill Sim, of Murray Bridge, the evenings were a blend of creative exploration and technical insight.
Participants delved into the art of shutter drag, synchronised flash photography – capturing perfectly timed moments in crisp detail – and the subtle drama of silhouette photography, where light and shadow dance to tell a story.
Model Bec Bella, of Tailem Bend, brought elegance and professionalism to the portraiture session, helping photographers explore lighting angles and modifiers in real-time.
Understanding flash, both in its split-second burst and the constant glow of continuous lighting, was key.
As Bill explained, “Knowing how to control your light is knowing how to control your story.”
Founded by Glenn Power, also of Tailem Bend, the photography club has grown into a welcoming, free community of photographers and filmmakers.
There are no obligations and no sign-ups – just a shared love of photography.

“Come when you can, shoot what you love,” is the club’s unofficial motto.
The club continues to attract photographers of all levels, from those who just bought their first camera to seasoned hobbyists chasing the perfect light.
For those looking to share, learn, or simply be inspired, the Murray Bridge Library Photography Club is capturing more than images – it’s capturing community.
