Which are the worst roads in the Murraylands?

The RAA wants to know – it’s surveying local road users about the issue as it prepares to lobby governments for funding in 2022.

Traffic engineer Matthew Vertudaches said he would be approaching councils and Regional Development Australia over the coming months, and that RAA experts would come out and assess the region’s main roads in person.

But he hoped to hear from community members first.

“Their views on the local roads are crucial to our investigations,” he said.

“We are keen to hear the community’s concerns about road safety, dangerous intersections, and challenges for walking and cycling.”

Public transport, road maintenance and the way trucks interacted with other vehicles were also issued of interest, he said.

RAA members were emailed the survey last month, but Mr Vertudaches encouraged everyone to fill it out.

A few examples of local transport problems will no doubt spring to your mind, including recent flood damage on Mannum Road, the need for a roundabout on the Old Princes Highway at Monarto, and the relative lack of public transport in Murray Bridge.

The survey will close on October 25.
