A highlight of things to do this week is to attend the Australia Day awards in Murray Bridge and Tailem Bend.

The Australia Day awards are an important way to honour the valuable contributions and achievements of outstanding members of the local community.

This year, the Murray Bridge Australia Day awards will move to a new location, Edwards Square, on the corner of Bridge Street and Swanport Road.

The award categories are citizen of the year, young citizen of the year, award for active citizenship, and community event of the year.

Local service clubs will provide breakfast for a gold coin donation, and barista-made coffee will be available from 7am next Thursday.

The official ceremony will begin at 7.45am with a welcome to country, award presentations and a citizenship ceremony.

Also, an Australia Day lunch will be held at 11am in the Tailem Bend Town Hall, honouring the Tailem Bend 2023 citizen of the year.

Everyone is welcome to attend these events.

They’re a bonzer way to kick off Australia Day.
