Spring garden award winners are making Murray Bridge greener and more beautiful
Meet the recipients of 2022's annual awards.
Every gardener takes pride in his or her patch.
There were a few beaming faces at the Murray Bridge council office on Tuesday morning, then, as the district’s greenest thumbs were recognised at the annual Spring Garden Awards.
The winners were:
- Large garden/overall: Lyn and Bryce Gillett
- Small garden: Kay and Tom Haig
- Senior's garden: Wendy and Geoff Osborne
- Community garden: Murraylands Retirement Village
- Encouragement award: Debra Thoman
Entries were judged based on gardens’ design and layout, plant selection and health, maintenence and environmental friendliness.
Each winner received a prize from Serenity Garden Centre.
Mayor Wayne Thorley thanked all competition entrants for making Murray Bridge a more beautiful place.
“There is great passion in the community for the gardens people create,” he said.
“Taking pride in what you do is something very special, and I welcome that.”
Winners at previous years' awards have included Mypolonga's Helen Phillips, for her tropical oasis, and Swanport's Neville and Marie Mueller, for their immaculately organised garden.
