I think some of the buildings in the Main Street are charming - if they had the verandahs removed & correct-era ones put on. Then the street would have a strong sense of character, which appeals to tourists & makes residents feel a sense of belonging. At the moment the main street lacks that. If you travel to rural Victoria or NSW you see a different character. So we should treasure our unique buildings as well as building new, attractive ones. Eg the chemist was the old cinema. Gorgeous.
