Police news: Driver was drunk before he left the bottle-o

A man reported for doing a burnout on the way out of a Murray Bridge bottle shop was already drink driving, police allege.

The 25-year-old local man allegedly “perform a sustained wheel spin” while leaving the BWS on Swanport Road last Wednesday, just before 5.30pm.

Police stopped his Honda sedan a short distance away, breath-tested him and checked his licence.

The driver allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.118, more than double the legal limit.

His licence had allegedly expired in 2014.

He was disqualified from driving for six months will face court after being reported for drink driving, driving while unlicensed and misusing a motor vehicle.

His car was also impounded for 28 days.

Three offences reported in Murray Bridge on Saturday

A P-plater has lost her licence for six months after being caught allegedly drink driving on McHenry Street on Saturday night.

The 20-year-old allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.08.

Her car was impounded for 28 days.

However, her reading was not the highest reported that night – police stopped a Glenelg man who allegedly blew 0.118 on Swanport Road just before midnight.

The 59-year-old was disqualified from driving for six months and will face court.

Meanwhile, another man was reported for driving while disqualified after being picked up on the Old Princes Highway on the east side just before 5pm.

Swerving into the gutter was a giveaway

Earlier in the month, on October 15, a 42-year-old Murray Bridge man was reported for drink driving after his car was seen running over the gutter on Ritter Street.

Police breath-tested the man at 12.45am on October 15.

He allegedly returned a reading of 0.188, almost four times the legal limit.

He was disqualified from driving for 12 months, had his car impounded for 28 days, and will face court.

Woken up, breath-tested and reported

Police have reported a woman for drink driving after finding her asleep in the driver’s seat of her car in Murray Bridge.

A patrol found her on Adelaide Road at 2.45am on October 14.

When they awoke her, she allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.172.

The 46-year-old was disqualified from driving for 12 months and will face the drink driving charge in court.

Camper trailer stolen at Tailem Bend

The Jayco Swan, registration S784 TBF, was reported stolen from the front yard of a house on Bolton Place, Tailem Bend last Tuesday.

The owners believe it was taken sometime between 6.30pm last Monday night, October 19, and 7.30am the next morning.

Smashing good time not had by anybody

A 36-year-old Murray Bridge man has been reported for property damage after allegedly smashing a glass door at a local business.

Police were called to the Homburg Road business around 11am last Wednesday.

The man will answer the charge in court.
