Discover chamber music in Murray Bridge at the Three Bridges Festival
A two-day festival will bring some of South Australia’s finest musicians to the Murraylands on July 20 and 21.

Talented chamber musicians and ensembles from all over South Australia will swing into Murray Bridge later this month for the Three Bridges Festival.
Whether you’re a fan of the genre or simply curious, the festival will offer the perfect opportunity to discover the beauty and intimacy of chamber music.
A variety of performances will highlight the rich traditions and innovative spirit of chamber music.
Included among them will be sessions with two locals: soundscape composer Jesse Budel and Ngarrindjeri and Gunditjmara singer-songwriter Katie Aspel.
Budel said he looked forward to presenting some of his compositions in his home town on July 20.
“(I have) so many memories there, from primary school concerts, to many musical theatre shows I performed in with Murray Bridge Players and Singers, to concerts I’ve produced, including A Menagerie Of Music in 2011, a John Cage centenary concert in 2012 and the surround sound Immersed concert in 2018,” he said.
“I’m very excited to bring some of my own music to the auditorium – some of it inspired by Murray Bridge and its surrounds – and share it with local audiences.”
The Kegelstatt Ensemble will give a one-hour concert at Murray Bridge Performing Arts + Function Centre, featuring works by Erwin Schulhoff and Ingolf Dahl as well as Osvaldo Golijov’s Lullaby and Doina: a dynamic interplay of melodies and emotions on flute, clarinet and strings.
Other highlights of the festival will include:
- A concert by Arabana and Yawaru songwriter Nathan May and Adelaide Baroque string players at Murray Bridge Regional Gallery, surrounded by the National Museum of Australia exhibition Red Heart of Australia
- Three free performances by Inkling Trio, blending traditional, folk, classical and jazz music
- A kids’ workshop with Thea Martin which will encourage children aged 5-10 to find their inner composers
Chamber Music Adelaide director Liz McCall urged audiences to explore the diverse program of free and ticketed events.
