A 30-year-old woman has died after a serious crash on the Karoonda Highway near Wynarka on Friday.

The Renmark woman was airlifted to the Flinders Medical Centre with critical injuries after the head-on collision, which occurred between Wynarka and Chapman Bore around 8.20am.

She died in hospital on Tuesday night.

The man who was behind the wheel of the second car, a 63-year-old from Karoonda, was taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The highway was closed for almost seven hours while major crash investigators studied the scene.

Bank card thief arrested in Murray Bridge

Meanwhile, police have arrested an alleged thief after he was caught using stolen bank cards in Murray Bridge on Tuesday morning.

The cards had been stolen from a house at Woodcroft, in Adelaide’s south, on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Also stolen was a grey Audi sedan and an amount of cash.

Around 7am, the victim of the theft alerted police to the fact that the cards had just been used at businesses in Murray Bridge.

Officers hit the streets, and by 7.40am they had made an arrest on Clara Street.

They found the Audi nearby.

The man they arrested, a 42-year-old from Christie Downs, was expected to appear at Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.
