The Rural City of Murray Bridge has announced the launch of this year’s Citizen of the Year Awards, a platform to celebrate and honour the local legends whose tireless efforts have a profound impact on our local area.
These awards are designed to shine a spotlight on individuals and organisations making a remarkable difference in our community across various sectors, including education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment and more.
Every contribution that enhances the wellbeing of our community is worth acknowledging, so be a legend and nominate a legend in one of the following award categories:
- Citizen of the Year: This prestigious award recognises individuals who have consistently made extraordinary contributions to our community over an extended period. Nominees must be Australian citizens.
- Young Citizen of the Year: We celebrate the young emerging leaders whose efforts are actively shaping our community’s future. Eligible nominees must be Australian citizens aged over 16 years and under 30 years of age on January 26, 2024.
- Community Event of the Year: This category acknowledges the driving force behind the most exceptional community event. Nominees must be Australian citizens.
- Award for Active Citizenship: Presented to individuals or groups that have delivered exceptional work on an event or project for the community during the past calendar year. Nominees need not be Australian citizens.

Award recipients will be announced during Murray Bridge’s Australia Day celebrations, a fitting occasion to recognise their outstanding contributions.
