Here’s what the Murray Bridge, Mid Murray and Coorong councils have been up to this month.

Expanded Mid Murray rubbish collection service arrives

Households at Mannum Waters and in other parts of Mannum’s outskirts will get their recycling bins collected for the first time next week as an expansion of the Mid Murray district’s rubbish collection service gets underway.

The council is seeking public feedback on its plans for expanded services right across the district, even as it rolls out a first lot of changes.

That feedback would inform the way in which services were rolled out in smaller townships and rural areas in future, Mayor Simone Bailey said.

“Council has been talking with the community about how we can best manage waste and recycling collection into the future for some time,” she said.

“We understand how important roadside waste and recycling services are, and we want to make sure that any changes to our current bin collection system are practical and affordable, but also deliver environmental benefits by improving access to recycling and green waste removal.

“If you’re a resident, ratepayer, business owner or holiday home owner … we want to know your thoughts on exactly what services you deem appropriate, how often you require them, how you’re managing your green waste, and what’s most important to you.”
