Homburg Drive Reserve will be alive with energy and colour this Friday when the Murray Bridge Wellbeing Hub and the Haven present a highly anticipated community colour run and barbecue.

The vibrant event, born directly out of discussions at a recent wellbeing summit, aims to bring people together in a unique celebration of health, inclusivity, and social connection.

Unlike traditional races, the community colour run â€“ which will start at 4.30pm – will be less about speed and competition and more about participation, fun, and the joy of shared experiences.

The event is designed for people of all ages and abilities, so whether you're five or 95 you can embrace wellbeing in a colourful and meaningful way.

At the heart of the community colour run lies its commitment to inclusivity.

The event’s organisers – Shelley Rose from the wellbeing hub and Helen Mattick from the Haven – are determined to make sure that the run is a place where everyone can come together.

“The colour run is a chance for people to feel welcome and included in something positive,” Ms Rose said.

“We’ve created this event with the belief that everyone should have an opportunity to participate in something fun, active, and social, no matter where they come from or where they are in life.”

Building on the key takeaways from the recent summit, where community leaders, mental health professionals, and community advocates came together to discuss strategies for promoting mental and physical health, the colour run was conceived as a tangible way to encourage people to connect and engage with one another in a supportive environment.

As participants make their way along the route, they will be covered in bright, non-toxic colours, symbolising not just a race, but a celebration of togetherness.

“The summit emphasised the need for social initiatives that promote both individual and collective wellbeing,” Ms Rose said.

“We believe that this colour run represents a natural next step in that conversation: a community event that is all about moving together, supporting each other, and celebrating health and happiness.”

For many, the colour run will offer an opportunity to bond with neighbours, meet new people, and enjoy the collective joy of being part of something bigger than themselves.

Whether you run, walk, or dance your way to the finish line, you’ll end up covered in colour and smiles.

Don't forget to wear a light-coloured T-shirt.
