Christmas lights competition 2024: Nominations are now open

The Rural City of Murray Bridge invites residents and businesses to dazzle the community with their Christmas lights displays and enter the 2024 Christmas lights competition to win a $200 voucher to spend locally at a business of your choice within the Murray Bridge council area.
The community can get into the holiday spirit by nominating their favourite local Christmas lights display in one of the following categories:
- Small
- Large
- Traditional
- Business
- Mayor’s award
Help us decorate the region for the festive season and bring joy to so many faces as they admire your creativity and dedication.
Not only will you enjoy the satisfaction of seeing your amazing light display appreciated, but entrants to the competition will also have the chance to earn some well-deserved bragging rights!
Mayor Wayne Thorley shared his enthusiasm for the competition.
"Christmas is a time to unwind, connect with loved ones, and celebrate the magic of the season," he said.
"I can’t wait to see the dazzling displays that light up our community and bring smiles to so many faces."
The competition is open to all light displays at properties within the Rural City of Murray Bridge area, with one nomination per individual or group per category.
The judges will consider the following when selecting the winning entries:
- Presentation: Overall appearance, layout, and design
- Light: Creative use of colour, form, and composition
- Creativity: Innovation and passion behind the display
- Christmas spirit: Reflection of the holiday season
- Wow factor: The ultimate wow-worthy impact
Nomination forms and guidelines are available now at www.murraybridge.sa.gov.au/christmaslights as well as at the local government centre and Murray Bridge Library.
A photo and/or video of the display must accompany all nominations.
Nominations will close on Wednesday, December 11; judging will take place from December 11-16; and winners will be announced at a Christmas lights presentation on December 19.
