The South Australian Living Artists Festival – or, as it’s more commonly known, SALA – is on again in the Murraylands.

You may recall some of the events being listed in our Things to Do article this week.

However, if you’re after a more comprehensive summary of SALA in the Murraylands – that is, for all of August and beyond – then look no further.

Murray Bridge

Mallee Soul – Angela Roesler

This exhibition celebrates regional artist Angela Roesler’s love for and connection with the Southern Mallee, exploring moments in time and her sense of belonging.

My Name – Cynthia Schwertsik

This exhibition utilises storytelling, photography, video work and mural-making to convey the rich story of women and their presence in the community over time.

Refugee Week Youth Poster Awards 2022 – various artists

Students from all over the state from all years submit artwork that raises awareness and celebrates refugees in Australia, and their contributions to many facets of our society.

Random Acts of Art – Bridge Arts

An eclectic collection of art from various local artists, exploring different media, themes and disciplines.

  • When: August 11-21, weekdays 10am-3pm and weekends 11am-3pm

Murray Bridge art walk – Murray Bridge Regional Gallery

Join the art gallery team as you take in the SALA exhibitions before heading out to explore public art in the streets of Murray Bridge. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Cost is $6 and bookings are essential; visit this link.

Monarto

Monarto’s Great Race – Jerome Kalvas

A digitally crafted mural, 32m in length, that showcases all the animals at the park in all their glory and highlights the importance of conservation.

Monarto’s Great Migration – Zoos SA

A portrayal of Monarto’s 30 year journey of becoming a leading conservation and zoological park.

This year for SALA, artists of the Coorong were asked to explore the idea that what we seek and perceive in the outside world may actual reflection of what we can find within.

Wellington

Field of Dreams – Leanne McCulloch

Multidisciplinary artist Leanne McCulloch has created a diverse range of unique art to tantalise the spirit.

Mannum

Creative fusion – various artists

A creative fusion of art from artists in the region

Food for the soul – Foodland Community Artists

The South Aussie supermarket is showcasing works from local artists in a series of in-store exhibitions.
