NAIDOC Week celebrations, a skate park competition, a business breakfast and more.

As well as being a slogan for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land rights, it’s the theme for NAIDOC Week this year, which begins on Sunday.
The annual celebration of Australia’s first peoples, including the Ngarrindjeri who have lived in the Murraylands for tens of thousands of years, was postponed in July due to COVID-19.
The delay will allow all the usual events to go ahead in our region, including a mass walk across Murray Bridge’s old road bridge on Monday morning and an awards ceremony that will follow.

Friday
Fire safety and prevention information: 11am-3pm at Murray Bridge Marketplace. Country Fire Service ambassador Smokey the koala and Rural City of Murray Bridge compliance officers share information on staying safe during fire danger season.
Speed off the Street: 5-8pm at The Bend Motorsport Park. Casual driving on the world’s best circuit, not a race, maximum speed 160 kilometres per hour.
Saturday
Skate Park League: 11am-4pm at Murray Bridge Skate Park, Sturt Reserve. Scooter, BMX and skateboard competition for anyone aged five and up, with opportunities for progression through YMCA's national talent pathway, raffle.

SA Sprintcars Club show: SOLD OUT.
Sunday
NAIDOC Week family fun day: From 10am at Le Messurier Oval, Murray Bridge. Wet and dry inflatable obstacle course, kids’ activities, games, elders' luncheon and community barbecue at 12pm.
Gypsy Jane: 2-3pm at Murray Bridge Library. Sunday Sessions live music.
Monday
NAIDOC Week bridge walk: From 9.30am at the east side of the old road bridge, Murray Bridge. Walk to the Murray Bridge council office, with NAIDOC Week awards to follow at 9.45am.

Tuesday
NAIDOC Week storytelling, arts and crafts: 10am-1.30pm at Moorundi Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service, 1 Wharf Road, Murray Bridge. Bookings essential: 1800 023 846.
Wednesday – Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day service: 10.45am at Mannum Memorial Gardens, Mannum Cemetery, Belvedere Road. Presented by Mannum RSL on the 102nd anniversary of the Armistice.
Daish Irrigation race day: 11.30am-7pm at Murray Bridge Racing Club. General admission: $10/6.
Thursday

NAIDOC Week flag-raising ceremony: From 12pm at Meningie council office. Join emcee Kevin Kropinyeri for a ceremony and community sausage sizzle featuring dances by the Rritjarukar and activities from Moorundi Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service. RSVP: 1300 785 277.
