As winter settles in, a nice warm hot chocolate beside a fire may sound like the perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon - well you're in luck.

A free community event, Winter by the Fire, initiated by Murray Bridge’s Genuine Support Services Australia in partnership with EGO Farm of Jervois, is more than just a chance to gather around a fire.

It’s a place for people from all walks of life to come together and feel part of something bigger.

It is hoped, that as winter settles in, Winter by the Fire will become a much-loved
tradition in Wellington, Jervois, Tailem bend, and Murray Bridge area - bringing
warmth, conversation, and connection to the heart of the community.

This year’s gathering is happening on Friday June 27 from 6pm-9pm and everyone is welcome.

Guests are welcome to stay around the warmth of the fire or find inside warmth in the farms enclosed cozy retreat.

Hosted by Lisa and Darren Henley of EGO farm, GSSA hopes that Winter by the
Fire will become a true community hub in the cooler months of the year – a place
where people can connect, support each other, and enjoy the warmth of both fire and friendship.

Come along, bring a friend, bring your family and enjoy a relaxed evening by the fire.

Ms Henley from EGO Farm said they would love to see people come along with guitars or an instrument they enjoy playing and join in on the improvised entertainment.

There’ll be good wholesome food, campfire stories, and a chance to meet people from across the region.

"We love our weekends, every weekend seems to bring all the locals together for
breakfast and during the week we have a ball with service groups like, Community Living Australia, Skylight, and Genuine Support Services Australia.

“GSSA’s Seed-2-Plate team have been an awesome help to my husband, Darren.

"The help around the farm has been outstanding.”

“Lately Wednesdays have been particularly special for us, as Kathy from Skylight has been offering coffee and a chat as part of her service’s ongoing drought relief effort,” Ms Henley said.

Skylight provides mental health support and connects adults over 25 with
helpful services, always in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
