Truck crash partially closes South Eastern Freeway
A truck carrying acid has crashed near Callington.

The South Eastern Freeway was partially closed on Tuesday after an overnight truck crash near Callington.
A semi-trailer carrying containers of acid left the roadway and crashed into a barrier on the median strip around 1am.
Its driver, a 52-year-old Victorian man, was taken to the Murray Bridge hospital with minor injuries after being trapped in the truck’s cabin for a short time.
The crash happened near the Callington exit, where a tree had fallen across the freeway.
Murray Bridge residents commuting to the city were still able to get through, though police reduced the speed limit in the area.
Motorists driving from the city to Murray Bridge or Tailem Bend were diverted onto the old highway between Callington and Monarto until the afternoon.
Four Country Fire Service and one Metropolitan Fire Service crews moved the fallen tree and cleaned up a diesel spill.
They also removed 500 millilitres of a substance which proved to be alkaline, not the acid.
Police are continuing to investigate.
