The Tour de Cure 2025 SA Discovery Tour will hit the ground running at Tailem Bend on March 29.

More than 100 riders will travel 300 kilometres in three days, visiting Hahndorf and Mannum before finishing in Adelaide on April 1.

As part of the event’s commitment to supporting local communities, a $10,000 grant will be presented to the Tailem Bend Community Centre for its Moving Through the Murraylands project.

This initiative aims to enhance mobility and social inclusion across the Murraylands region while encouraging volunteer engagement.

In Mannum on March 30, a $10,000 grant will be presented to the Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network for their palliative care arm.

The funds will be used to host a mindfulness day for people living with cancer to create a respite from the day-to-day treatment or testing they may be undertaking.

Tour de Cure is not-for-profit, cancer-agnostic organisation, raising funds to support cancer research, support and prevention projects in Australia.

The Tour has a fundraising goal of $305,000, which will go to the Flinders Foundation, as well as community grants to cancer services in the regions they pass through.

Ross Verschoor, executive director at the Flinders Foundation, said he believed facing challenges was the only way to overcome them.

"One of the biggest challenges we face is finding effective treatments for the disease of our time: cancer," he said.

“Our researchers and their projects require funding to get them off the ground and to ensure the research is robust and has real world application.

"This funding often comes in the form of critical fundraising from events like the Tour de Cure SA Discovery Tour, and we appreciate every participant, donor and sponsor."
