A fancy dress ball held at the Murray Bridge institue
A fancy dress ball was held in the Murray Bridge Institute on Tuesday April 7th, the proceeds of which are to augment the funds of the jumble stall at the coming Anzac Day.
Mr. John Cowan was the organiser and must be congratulated on the success of the evening, a very happy spirit prevailing among all the dancers.
The hall presented a charming picture of beautifully blended colors, fuschia tints, cerise and amethyst prevailing, and the whole effect was softened by long trails of multi-colored autumn leaves.
Murray Bridge Bowlers' Easter tour
During the bowling season Murray Bridge has been favored with visits from several city clubs, and opportunity was taken at Easter time.
A number of the more enthusiastic members of the club played return matches with some of the city clubs.
The majority who made the trip to the city were this season's players, and therefore comparatively new to the game, but the experience gained will stand them in good stead for the future.
It was the visitors' privilege to see two club championships in process of play.
Death at the Oakbank races
Major C. H. Bath, of Woodville, strayed on to the course during the progress of the first race, not realising that the horses were anywhere near.
Before he could retrace his steps the galloping horses were on top of him, he attempted to rise, but Comic Knight which horse was just behind, again hit the unfortunate man, killing him instantly.
The ambulance was quickly in attendance, but of course nothing could be done for him.
