This playground at Wellington will be replaced – what do your kids want built there?
The Murray Bridge council is circulating a survey as it prepares to upgrade a playground at Baker Reserve.
If your kids have ever wanted to design a playground, this is their chance.
The Murray Bridge council plans to build a new playground at Baker Reserve, at Wellington, and is asking local children what equipment they would like.
Twenty-four options are included in a survey being circulated this month.
Would traditional elements such as slides, swings and flying foxes be best?
How about nature play elements, or skate park features?
City assets and infrastructure general manager Heather Barclay said it would be up to local families to choose.
“Rather than council deciding what we think would work best there, we’d like residents to get involved, complete the survey and tell us what they would like to see in their neighbourhood playground and what might best support their community identity,” she said.
“If you’d like to see a flying fox, a uniquely shaped climbing structure, Indigenous heritage or any other elements included, fill out the survey and let us know.”
Baker Reserve already features a toilet block with several colourful mosaics on it, barbecue facilities and a boat ramp.
The existing playground at Baker Reserve only has a slide, two swings and a four-way see-saw.
The playground upgrade was among the priorities raised by Wellington residents during a community consultation late last year.
Monarto will also get some extra attention in 2022-23 as part of the council’s outer towns program, while other communities around the district will benefit in years to come.
