Wellington and Monarto residents: What can council do for you?
The Murray Bridge council will hold two public meetings in the next fortnight as it plans beautification works in its smaller townships.
Murray Bridge has had a spruce-up in recent years – now the other towns in the district will get a turn.
Public meetings are being held at Wellington and Monarto, this week and next, to ask locals what kind of upgrades would make them even prouder of their communities.
The other townships in the Murray Bridge district will be asked the same thing over the next three years.
Council chief executive officer Michael Sedgman said establishing a clear identity for Murray Bridge – and promoting it using events, signage and street upgrades – had done wonders.
“Now it’s time for our townships to shine and share in creating their own character, complementary of the broader regional identity,” he said.
“We want to hear from the people who live and work here, what they think their township is most known for, what are their township’s characteristics that make it truly special and what they’re most proud of.
“Conversations with community are vital for planning what the future of our rural city will look like and the steps we need to take to get there.”
The Wellington meeting will be held this Thursday night, while the Monarto meeting will follow next Thursday.
Anyone unable to make it to the meetings will be able to complete an online survey – click the links below.
