What’s your favourite kind of horsepower – animal or mechanical?
Whichever it is, one of the biggest events of the year will be on in Murray Bridge this Saturday: either the $120,000 Gold Cup at the racecourse at Gifford Hill, or Autofest at the speedway, with a bonus show and shine at Sturt Reserve.
The rain is supposed to clear up by then, so don’t just sit at home – get out and enjoy what our community has to offer.

The Funny Farmers Get Mooving: 11am at Murray Bridge Performing Arts and Function Centre. A hilarious kids’ show featuring live music, puppets and comedy skits which encourages the audience to tackle some big environmental issues. Tickets: $12 at events.ticketbooth.com.au.

Spring market day: 9am-5pm at Murray Bridge Marketplace. You’ll find a variety of market stalls showcasing local products, plus market day specials from your favourite stores.
Biodiversity walk and landholder networking: 10am-12pm at Ferries McDonald Conservation Park. Experience the park and its unique flora and fauna for a two-kilometre loop walk led by Goolwa to Wellington LAP’s Ben Simon and Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board threatened flora ecologist; then stay for a cuppa and to talk to your neighbours about coordinated pest management, revegetation and other issues; wear appropriate footwear, be sun smart and BYO water; no toilets available; enter via Chaunceys Line Road.
