August 18 is the 50th anniversary of the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War, and the Murray Bridge RSL will mark the occasion with various activities this Friday.

At 1pm, Vietnam veterans will march from Diamond Park to the war memorial at Sturt Reserve for a service, and afternoon tea will follow at the Murray Bridge RSL.

There’ll also a be a drum corps and an RAAF flyover.

Anyone is welcome to attend to show support to the veterans, honour those who were killed or injured and express thanks that Australia’s involvement in the war ended.

Vietnam veterans 50th anniversary march and RAAF flyover: 1pm start at Diamond Park, Murray Bridge. This event commemorates 50 years after the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War. Vietnam veterans will march from Diamond Park, along Adelaide Road and towards the war memorial for a service at Sturt Reserve, followed by afternoon tea at the Murray Bridge RSL. Please note that there may be extensive rolling road closures between 1pm and 3pm.

Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital 100-year anniversary: 11.30am at Imperial Football Club, Adelaide Road, Murray Bridge. MBRG Youth Art Prize 2023 prize announcements and closing event: 2pm–4pm at the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery, 27 Sixth Street, Murray Bridge. The annual Youth Art Prize is a platform for youth to express their views through art. MBRG warmly invites you and your family to hear the prize announcements and be a part of the closing event. This year’s judge is Monte Masi, leading SA artist and director and lecturer at the Adelaide Central School of Art.
