Have your say about the future of the Murray Bridge district

Is the Murray Bridge district headed in the right direction, or does the council need to do better at juggling its priorities?

Whatever you think, now is your chance to say so.

Over the next six weeks, the Murray Bridge council will host workshops in communities around the district: Jervois, Mypolonga, Monarto, Monteith, Callington, and several in Murray Bridge itself.

Its goal?

To gather your ideas about how ratepayer dollars can be used to help your community thrive – particularly over the next four years.

Most sessions will be general, but one at the council’s office on August 17 will focus on the environment; and another at the Station on August 31 will focus on community connections.

Another, invite-only workshop next Tuesday will ask local business owners what they would like from the council.

Five survey respondents will win a $100 grocery voucher for their trouble.

People’s feedback will be compiled into a strategic plan, which in turn will focus the council’s attention when it puts together its next four annual budgets.

Mayor Wayne Thorley said the council wanted to make sure its plans reflected the needs, aspirations and priorities of community members.

CEO Heather Barclay described the consultation period as people’s “opportunity to make a real difference”.
