Thieves stole $6000 from Murray Bridge house, police say
The break-in is one of several reported locally during the past week. But officers have made arrests in two other cases.
Police are looking for the thief or thieves who stole $6000 in cash from a Murray Bridge house over the weekend.
The house on Old Swanport Road was broken into sometime on Saturday.
It’s not the only recent theft under investigation.
A car parked on Swanport Road was broken into sometime between 11.15pm and 11.50pm on Sunday, and property taken including hand tools, Converse sneakers and a Pentax camera.
Someone also broke into a shed on Bluebush Court at Murray Bridge South on Friday or Saturday and stole various a ride-on lawnmower, a post hole-digger, various Ryobi power tools, four jerry cans and a full toolbox.
A week earlier, between January 8 and 11, thousands of dollars worth of video gaming gear was reported stolen from a house on Chaucer Terrace, Murray Bridge.
Thieves broke into the house and took several TVs, two PS4s, a PS3, an Xbox and a Nintendo gaming console.

Pipe thieves pay the piper
Police had more luck investigating a recent theft of copper piping from a local property.
A patrol was called to the Murray Bridge property around 9am last Tuesday, January 12, after being tipped off about a man and a woman behaving suspiciously.
Officers allegedly caught the pair in the act of stealing the piping.
They arrested the man, 38, and the woman, 39 – both locals – and charged them with being on the premises and possessing the piping unlawfully, property damage, and possessing an item for committing an offence.
Police also charged the man for unlawful possession of electrical cables allegedly stolen from a building site at a local school late last year.
The pair were denied bail ahead of an appearance at Murray Bridge Magistrates Court last Wednesday.
Safe-breakers stole $100,000, police allege
Meanwhile, two people have been arrested at a caravan park in the Adelaide Hills over the alleged theft of jewellery, a safe and more than $100,000 in cash from a Strathalbyn business.
Detectives from Mount Barker and western Adelaide followed a trail of clues to a car parked at a Glenelg, where they allegedly found documents and jewellery linking the pair to the crime.
The suspects were remanded in custody after allegedly giving a false address on a bail application.
Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services Minister Vincent Tarzia suggested the state government’s investment in law enforcement – including $93.2 million in 2020-21 – was the reason for a 21% drop in cases of serious criminal trespassing during the past year.
