Plus a Murray Bridge family is caught in a serious crash at Virginia and police catch various drivers doing various things.

Teen BMW driver reported for speeding at Tailem Bend

A 19-year-old driver has been reported after allegedly being caught speeding through Tailem Bend in a BMW last week.

Police allegedly detected the Pooraka man’s car travelling at 80 kilometres per hour in the 60 zone on the Princes Highway around 8.40pm last Wednesday.

According to police, a check showed that the driver had been disqualified and that the car was unregistered and uninsured.

Officers confiscated it for 28 days and reported the driver.

He’ll face court in Murray Bridge down the track.

Also stopped on Murray Mallee roads this week were:

  • A 37-year-old Murray Bridge man for allegedly testing positive to methamphetamine, and driving while disqualified, on Bywaters Road at 9.05pm on Friday; he was reported, had his car impounded and will face court
  • A 40-year-old Murray Bridge man for allegedly driving under the influence of methamphetamine and cannabis at Langhorne Creek at 7pm on Sunday, while in a defectable car; he was directed not to drive for 24 hours
  • A 28-year-old Murray Bridge man for allegedly driving while unlicensed and unregistered on Jose Street at 7.55pm on Sunday; police also allege that they found prescription medication in the car, and a flick knife in the possession of a 19-year-old local passenger; both men were reported and will face court

Six-year-old left fighting for life after crash

Meanwhile, a six-year-old girl has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after a crash at Virginia on Sunday.

A Toyota van and Toyota ute collided at the intersection of King Road and Penfield Road just after 11am.

The girl was a passenger in the van.

Its driver, a 42-year-old Murray Bridge woman, and two other passengers, 11 and 10, were taken to hospital with minor injuries; so were a 37-year-old local man and a four-year-old girl in the ute.
