A week of free community activities and workshops will mark the launch of the new Murray Bridge Wellbeing Hub on March 20.
Members of the public will be able to attend a range of community wellbeing initiatives across Murray Bridge, with the official hub launch from 10am at the Edwards Square community building now known as the Square Community Centre.
Murray Bridge council CEO Michael Sedgman expressed his pride about the wellbeing hub becoming a reality.
“I’m happy to say that, in partnership with Wellbeing SA and the Murray Bridge Community Centre, the Rural City of Murray Bridge is now able to offer this amazing new initiative,” he said.
“Providing opportunities to promote health and wellbeing and enable people to connect with others is an important part of building and supporting thriving communities.”
During the launch week, free wellbeing hub taster classes will include:
- Community garden meet-up: 10am Wednesday, March 22 at Murray Bridge Community Centre, 18 Beatty Terrace
- Let’s Play With Music, for 0–5-year-olds: 9.15am Thursday, March 23 at the Square Community Centre, 2 South Terrace, Murray Bridge
Murray Bridge Community Centre coordinator Jade Porter said the centre would now operate from two locations: Beatty Terrace and Edwards Square.
The launch will also promote the relocation of the Haven – a domestic violence resource offering information, support and referrals – from Beatty Terrace to the Square.
The council approved the community centre’s move into the space a year ago, after it was the only organisation to express an interest in the former senior citizens’ centre.
