Inclement weather has failed to dampen community spirit at the Callington Show on Sunday, with families and visitors turning out to enjoy one of the region’s much-loved country events.
Despite the rain, the showgrounds were alive with activity, thanks to the many volunteers, exhibitors, entertainers and food vendors who helped make the annual event a success.
Anna Thompson, a Callington resident and show committee member, kept the day moving as the event’s announcer, and also performed the Australian national anthem.
“It was fantastic to see people turn out despite the weather,” she said.
“There was so much happening, and it was wonderful to see families enjoying themselves and supporting the show.

“It takes a lot of people working together behind the scenes to put on a show like this.
“The support from our volunteers, stallholders and local groups makes it a special day for Callington.”
A crowd favourite was the barbecue served by members of the Adelaide Hills Tigers Rugby League Club from Mount Pleasant.
Children were not deterred by the weather, with face painting, sack races, and the popular dachshund dash among the attractions bringing smiles and excitement.

Young photographer and artist Lucia Grey, 15, of Ironbank, was another standout: the Murray Bridge Show’s recent photography champion continued her winning run, winning junior grand champion titles for upcycling plastics into wearable jewellery and for her brilliant photography.
Sunday’s event demonstrated the strength of a community willing to roll up its sleeves, support local organisations and enjoy a day together, whatever the weather.
