Sky News' Paul Murray will broadcast live from Murray Bridge tomorrow

The media circus will be in town tomorrow night as Sky News broadcaster Paul Murray brings his show Paul Murray Live Our Town to Murray Bridge.

From 8.30pm, the passionate presenter will broadcast live from the Bridges Event Centre at Gifford Hill into the eastern states, and on a half-hour delay for South Australian viewers.

He will interview guests including Mayor Brenton Lewis and racing club chairman Reg Nolan and take questions from audience members.

The idea was to bring local issues and perspectives to the attention of a national audience, Mr Murray said.

“I’m sick of the only time nationally based media turn up in places like Murray Bridge being for horrible disasters, when people have lost their jobs – for bad news,” he said.

“On Our Town we take a national news debate show, celebrate places people know about but may not have visited, and inspire them to come and have a look.”

Sky News journalists have been out and about in the Murraylands and other parts of South Australia in recent weeks, putting together reports that will form part of the show.

The broadcast will also include a performance from tenor singer and former Australia’s Got Talent winner Mark Vincent.

Paul Murray Live has taken an Our Town tour for each of the past four years, but Mr Murray said 2020’s border closures and travel restrictions had made this year “a punish”.

Still, the production has rolled through Toowoomba, Launceston, Darwin and Mount Isa so far.

“I love that experience of reminding people in Sydney and Melbourne about what the rest of the country looks like,” he said.

He encouraged anyone who spotted him around town tomorrow to say g’day.
