Six Murraylands towns nominated for SA’s Ag Town of the Year Award
Murray Bridge, Mannum, Callington and Monarto are among 91 towns nominated for the award in 2026.
Six Murraylands towns are in the running to be named South Australia’s ag town of the year in 2026.
Ninety-one towns feature on a list of nominees released by the state Department of Primary Industries and Regions and Solstice Media on Monday.
Among them are:
- Bowhill, with its vegetables and broad-acre cropping
- Callington, with its canola farming and livestock
- Cambrai, with its cereal grains and Kalamata olives
- Mannum, with its livestock, meat, wool, cereal crops and vegetables
- Monarto, with its mushrooms, “horticultural enrichment” and fodder
- Murray Bridge, with its dairy, stone fruit, citrus, wine grapes and olives
The Mallee towns of Halidon, Lameroo, Parilla and Pinnaroo were also nominated.
The Ag Town of the Year Award – a state government initiative – is intended to celebrate SA’s agricultural sector, its farming heritage and towns’ foresight, resilience and community spirit.
Finalists will be decided by a public vote.
Primary Industries and Regional Development Minister Clare Scriven encouraged everyone to have their say.
“Regional towns are vital to our state’s prosperity,” she said.
“We all depend on the agricultural excellence that serves as the lifeblood of so many of these communities.
“The Ag Town of the Year Award is about celebrating our vibrant regional communities and acknowledging their resilience, community values, and commitment to delivering the goods and services we so often rely on.”
The winning town will get a celebratory community event, new signs to put at town entrances and media coverage across the state.
Previous winners have included Lameroo in 2025 and Mypolonga in 2022.
