The Rural City of Murray Bridge Sports Awards are the ultimate celebration of sporting excellence and a tribute to the spirit and remarkable achievements of our local athletes.

This initiative is part of the broader Local Legends campaign, which also includes the Spring Garden and Christmas Lights Competition, and Australia Day Awards, all of which aim to recognise the outstanding contributions made by individuals, groups, and businesses within our thriving community.

Now in its third year, the Sports Awards stand as a symbol of appreciation for our talented sportspeople and teams who have brought immense pride and distinction to our region.

“At the Rural City of Murray Bridge, we recognise the vital role that sports play in our community,” said Mayor Wayne Thorley.

“Sports bring people together, foster camaraderie and instil the values of perseverance and teamwork.

“We are thrilled to launch the Murray Bridge Sports Awards to honour our local sporting heroes who have achieved greatness in their chosen disciplines.”

The Sports Awards encompass a range of categories, each tailored to celebrate exceptional sporting achievements.

These include:

Sports Person of the Year (male and female)
Young Sports Person of the Year (male and female)
Sporting Volunteer of the Year
Team of the Year (new category)
Junior Team of the Year (new category)

With the nomination process now officially open, the Rural City of Murray Bridge extends an invitation to sports clubs to participate in this celebration of sporting excellence.
