Riverfront Murray Bridge Fringe event will replace Sixth Street party
Instead of closing a CBD street, this year’s Adelaide Fringe centrepiece in the Murraylands will be a daytime event at Sturt Reserve.

As the Adelaide Fringe gets underway this weekend, a new showcase event has been announced in Murray Bridge.
Instead of a Saturday night street party in the CBD, the Murray Bridge council will present a free daytime event on the city’s riverfront on Sunday, March 3.
The event will feature a range of visiting and local performers, plus food trucks, in a picnic-style atmosphere from 10.30am.
Mayor Wayne Thorley described it as a fantastic platform for local artists’ talent, and “a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our picturesque riverfront”.
Fringe by the River will replace the award-winning Fringe on Sixth street party, first held in 2019.
The council had previously committed to holding a Fringe event, one of four major events it planned for the first half of 2024.
Meanwhile, the number of Adelaide Fringe events in Murray Bridge will drop from 20 to 11 this year, and no Fringe shows are scheduled at Tailem Bend or any other nearby towns.
Still, there will be plenty of quality on offer at the Bridgeport Hotel, Murray Bridge Performing Arts and Function Centre and the Station.

More than 1400 shows at 500 venues across South Australia are expected to create about $100 million worth of economic activity during this year’s Fringe festival.
