Police news: Murray Bridge woman charged with causing a bushfire
Plus a drug trafficker charged, sheep stolen and a 13-year-old caught driving a ute.
A Murray Bridge woman has been arrested for allegedly causing a bushfire on a 31-degree day.
Police allege that the 34-year-old lit a fire beneath the Swanport Road underpass on the South Eastern Freeway just after midday on November 26.
Ambulance officers were able to extinguish the grass fire before the Country Fire Service arrived.
Only about 10 square metres was burnt.
Witnesses pointed police towards the woman, who was arrested nearby.
Officers charged her not with arson, property damage or endangerment, but with the unusual offence of causing a bushfire.
She was remanded in custody and will face court over the matter.
Sheep theft alleged at Murray Bridge sale yards
More than $3000 worth of crossbred sheep have been reported stolen from the sale yards on Thomas Street, Murray Bridge.
A truck dropped 511 sheep at the yards at 8.30pm on November 25.
Only 490 were still there at 9.30 the next morning, leaving 21 missing.

Drug trafficking charges laid after search
A 48-year-old man has been arrested on drug trafficking charges after bags of methamphetamine and cannabis were allegedly found at a Murray Bridge home.
Police searched the property on Allen Street, which was empty at the time, on November 25.
As well as the drugs, they allegedly found drug paraphernalia and stolen items including perfume.
Officers found and charged the man two days later.
He was granted bail and will face Murray Bridge Magistrates Court in January.

Thirteen-year-old among drivers charged with traffic offences
Police have reported a 13-year-old boy for driving without a licence after he was allegedly seen behind the wheel of a Holden station wagon in Murray Bridge.
Someone alerted police after seeing the boy driving around the Pathways estate around 4.40pm on November 27.
Officers found him at his home nearby and told him to expect a summons to youth court.

A 42-year-old Peake man stopped on Old Swanport Road, Murray Bridge at 7pm on November 26, allegedly driving while unregistered, uninsured and without a licence, removing a defect label and driving a defected vehicle; his car was impounded and he will face court
A 34-year-old Murray Bridge man breath-tested on Old Swanport Road, Murray Bridge just after midnight on November 28, who allegedly had a blood alcohol reading of 0.101, twice the legal limit; he was reported for drink driving, lost his licence for six months and car for 28 days, and will face court
A 43-year-old Murray Bridge woman breath-tested on Willow Avenue on the same morning, who allegedly blew 0.216; she was reported for drink driving, lost her licence for 12 months and car for 28 days, and will face court
A 21-year-old woman from the Murray Bridge district stopped on the Princes Highway at Wellington East around 6pm on December 3, allegedly travelling at 156 kilometres per hour in the 110 zone while under the influence of methamphetamine; she was reported for drug driving, fined $1750 for speeding and disqualified from driving for six months
A 25-year-old Murray Bridge man stopped on Heddle Avenue at 6.40pm the same night, allegedly riding a motorbike while disqualified; he was arrested, charged and granted bail ahead of a court appearance
