Police find alleged meth lab at Moorlands

Police have arrested two men for drug offences after searching a property at Moorlands.

On January 6, Murray Mallee police attended an address on Moorlands Road and located equipment allegedly being used for an illegal amphetamine laboratory.

Police arrested two men, a 55-year-old Modbury man and a 45-year-old Moorlands man.

The men have been charged with possessing prescribed equipment and manufacturing a controlled drug.

Murray Bridge assault results in three arrests

On December 22, police attended a Murray Bridge home after reports that a 23-year-old man had been assaulted by two men known to him.

The victim was taken to the Murray Bridge Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested three people in relation to the incident: a 23-year-old male, a 36-year-old male and a 42-year-old female.

The woman was issued a caution for hindering police, and the men are due to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on February 20.

Police recover stolen Tailem Bend vehicle in Burdett

A member of the public has assisted police by spotting a 1985 Suzuki Sierra that was reported stolen between November 30 and December 14 on Kulde Road, Tailem Bend.

Police recovered the vehicle (pictured above right), which was hidden in bushland at the end of Boundary Road, Burdett.

The theft also included a yellow Suzuki quad bike, which is yet to be recovered.

Thieves steal Tailem Bend traffic trailer

Police are investigating an unusual traffic-related offence: the theft of a traffic control trailer from Tailem Bend.

Sometime between December 9 and December 12, thieves cut the padlocks on the trailer—with Victorian registration Y13 860—and removed it from the corner of JW McFarlane Road and Princes Highway.

Round-up of Recent Murray Mallee Traffic Offences

Over the New Year’s Eve long weekend, police in the Murray Mallee region caught five drivers under the influence of alcohol— and then caught five more for driving offences last weekend.

On December 31, police stopped a male driver on Phillips Street at Murray Bridge.

The 46-year-old Murray Bridge man recorded a breath test reading of 0.105.

That same night, police stopped a car on the Old Sturt Highway at Berri.

The 64-year-old male driver from Monash then allegedly refused to do a breath test.

He was taken to Berri Hospital for a blood test and was reported for driving under the influence and for refusing a breath test.

Also on New Year’s Eve, police stopped a 36-year-old Murray Bridge man on Maurice Road, Murray Bridge, who returned a positive breath test reading of 0.200.

The drink-driving offences continued on January 1, with police at Chandos Terrace at Lameroo reporting a 59-year-old Parilla man with drink-driving.

And police at Renmark Avenue, Renmark, charged a 24-year-old Victorian woman with drink-driving.

Last weekend, police in the Murray Mallee region charged five people with driving offences.

On January 6 at Paringa, an observant member of the public contacted a police officer after noticing sparks coming from a boat trailer being towed behind a vehicle.

By following the trail of scrape marks, police located the vehicle at a property on the Sturt Highway .

Police arrested the driver, a 37-year-old male from Renmark, and charged him with failing to submit to a breath test and unlawfully damaging a road surface.

He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence, and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

On January 7, police reported a 28-year-old Mannum man for allegedly driving a motor vehicle on Mannum’s Albert Street while being disqualified from driving.

The next day, police also reported a 65-year-old woman from Sedan for allegedly driving while disqualified from driving.

On the same day, police stopped a Mitsubishi Pajero on Ral Raj Avenue at Renmark.

The 64-year-old male driver from Cooltong recorded a positive breath test result of 0.095.

On January 9, Murray Bridge police stopped a car on Swanport Road at Murray Bridge. The 29-year-old male driver recorded a positive result of 0.075 and was issued an expiation notice for alleged drink-driving.

Cuppa with a Copper a success

Members of SA Police’s Water Operations Unit were at the Murray Bridge Marketplace for the Marketplace’s bi-monthly Coffee with a Cop program.

For something different, Brevet Sergeant Alan Vonow and Brevet Sergeant Glen McKenzie, Water Operations specialists, focused on hot water this time—in the form of cuppas.

Members of the Murray Bridge Crime Prevention Section, Senior Constable 1st Class David Brown and Senior Constable Kim Ide also chatted with the local community in an informal setting over coffee.
