Police discover disused drug laboratory at Tailem Bend
A local man has been arrested over the alleged find on a rural property; plus rumours of COVID fines being issued in Murray Bridge prove false.
A Tailem Bend man has been arrested after police allegedly discovered a drug laboratory on his property.
Officers allegedly found the facility – which was not operational – when they raided the man’s 300-acre property on Wednesday.
Still, they arrested the 33-year-old and charged him with drug trafficking and possessing prescribed equipment.
He will also face charges for allegedly possessing a shotgun and ammunition without a licence.
He was denied bail, appeared in court and was returned to custody.
Police suggested the arrest was linked with an ongoing operation targeting the illicit drug trade in the Murraylands.
Rumours of Murray Bridge COVID fines were just that
Meanwhile, SA Police have announced the results of Operation Trace, which focused on COVID Safe compliance over the past 10 days.
Only one South Australian received a fine for failing to comply with public health regulations, while 563 people and 83 businesses were cautioned across the state.
Police were not able to say how many of those warnings were handed out in the Murray Mallee.
At any rate, rumours of local businesses being fined were evidently just that – rumours.
Police advised that QR code check-ins, and the contact tracing system they enabled, would help South Australians stay healthy in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak.
They encouraged everyone to keep doing the right thing by checking in, whether using their smartphones or by writing down their names and contact details, at all public places.
