The community is being encouraged to have their say on the future management plan of local conservation parks in Monarto.

Parks include Ferries-McDonald, Kinchina, Monarto and Monarto Woodlands conservation parks.

The parks have been proclaimed primarily to conserve remnant mallee and grassy woodland vegetation which has been largely cleared in the area.

A large number of state-threatened plants and animals are protected in the parks and provide habitat for declining woodland bird species.

Encouraging public use and enjoyment of the reserves is one of the priorities for park management in order to promote the importance of biodiversity.

Kinchina and Monarto Woodlands conservation parks are of particular value, holding running, cycling, orienteering and horse-riding events.

Another priority is conserving the current natural value and restoring their native ecosystems
