Eighty-five business and community leaders, pioneers and riverboats are in line to be honoured in Murray Bridge by having roads named after them.

The Murray Bridge council has published a list of pre-approved names for future roads in an effort to speed up housing development while paying tribute to important local families.

Included on the list are well-known local names like Beauchamp, Finlayson, Haines, Offe and Staiff – scroll down to see the complete list.

Until now, developers have decided all new road names in the district: they would suggest names and staff or councillors would approve them.

The new list, created by four long-standing community members, will speed up the process by allowing developers to pick and choose names they like without having to go through an approval process.

Developers will still be able to propose their own names if they would prefer.

But first, community members will have a chance to offer feedback.

So, what do you think – are there any names missing from the list, or names on there that don’t deserve to be?
