Pedal prix organisers set dates for Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend races in 2022
After a two-year absence brought on by COVID-19, organisers hope the pedal prix at Sturt Reserve will be able to return.
The third time will hopefully be the charm for the organisers of the Australian International Pedal Prix.
The nation’s biggest pedal prix is scheduled to return to Sturt Reserve on September 23 to 25, 2022, after being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Tailem Bend will also get a race on July 31, 2022 at The Bend Motorsport Park, where only one of two scheduled Australian HPV Super Series events went ahead this year.
Races have also been planned for Mount Gambier, Adelaide’s Victoria Park and Busselton, Western Australia.
A sixth race has also been scheduled, but a venue has not yet been finalised.
Series CEO Marcus Lacey said the schedule’s release this month was an important milestone.
“It’s been far too long since we have been able to hold events and go racing,” he said.
“The provisional calendar is subject to change, but we look forward to finalising details over coming weeks.”
He was optimistic that COVID vaccination rates would make 2022 more stable for event organisers than 2020 and 2021 had been, though he anticipated there would be hurdles to overcome yet.
