A Coorong council plan to get SA Water to provide potable water to the fast-growing community has been positively received – with one important proviso.
We are new incoming residents who attended that meeting and totally support the new SA Water option, for both financial and clean water reliability reasons. We opted to build in this community knowing that we would require tanks to supply us with fresh drinking water and we choose to draw minimal river water for environmental factors. Our understanding is that rainwater SHOULD be our main source and the added bonus of having SA Water gives us the reassurance that should we, in the future have insufficient rainfall at any time to meet our needs, we have the backup of clean water to top up our tanks. As SA Water is a user pays system, we can control how much we use and choose to pay for. Hence we don't feel the cost is going to be as unaffordable as some may think.
