Wellbeing Hub project officer Bridgette Syrus is inviting everyone to join eight wellbeing walks starting at the Square and taking place from 12.30 to 1pm every Monday and Thursday in June.

The walks are part of the Wellbeing SA campaign A Walk Can Work Wonders, which encourages people to be active and to start with the easy goal of walking for 10 minutes a day.

“Walking has so many benefits on your overall wellbeing – for your physical health, mental health, as well as social connections,” Ms Syrus said.

“Murray Bridge is a great walking town, with so many trails following along the river.

“It is easy to incorporate a small walk into your day, even if it’s walking from Woolies to Coles over driving – every step counts!

“I sometimes take a hot chocolate and talk on the phone for 10 minutes, instead of sitting at my desk getting restless.

“The June walks will all start at the Square, and we will take a variety of walking routes – including to and from the bunyip, the hospital and river.

“The walks will start and finish within half an hour, so people can come in their lunch breaks.”

The walks will go ahead even if the weather doesn’t co-operate.

“If it’s a wet day, we will have a mall walk instead,” Ms Syrus said.

“The walks are pram and dog friendly, so bring along your furry friends or work colleagues.”

You can make the enjoyable walk even more so with a coffee, as each new walker will receive a free coffee voucher for the GCS Cafe or Little Local Co.

Although comfortable shoes are recommended for the lunchtime walks, you don’t need to be decked out in full activewear.
