Plus four motorists have been caught over the past two weekends for various offences.

A 45-year-old local man and his passenger, a 25-year-old man from Smithfield, have been taken to hospital after a serious crash at Pompoota.

Police and emergency services were called to Billabong Road, south of Ponde, just before 1.30pm on Sunday.

The men were traveling on a three-wheeled motorbike when they lost control and crashed.

Both men were flown to hospital and treated for serious injuries.

Billabong Road was closed to all traffic for nearly three hours.

The motorbike was towed from the scene.

Drink and drug drivers caught

Meanwhile, police have reported four local drivers over the past week and a half:

  • A 30-year-old Murray Bridge man was stopped on Swanport Road at 5.50pm on June 7 and allegedly provided a positive result to cannabis; he was issued a three-month instant loss of licence and will appear in court
  • A 36-year-old Murray Bridge man was stopped on June 2 on Commerce Road at 2.30am and allegedly blew 0.272; he was given a 12-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded
  • About 15 minutes later, a 22-year-old Murray Bridge male was stopped on Brinkley Road and allegedly blew 0.117; he was given a six-month instant loss of licence notice
  • Police stopped a 33-year-old Tailem Bend man on the Princes Highway on June 1 who allegedly returned a positive result to a drug test; he received a 3 month loss of licence and will appear in court
