Welcoming Week coincides with R U Ok? Day, which makes it seem like now is the perfect time to check in with those around us. Photo: RCMB/Facebook.

Today is R U OK Day, a day that focusses on mental health by imploring us to simply ask our nearest and dearest: “Are you okay?”

A simple check-in could give someone the opportunity to let go of whatever burden they are carrying, and can even save a life.

In keeping with this theme, the Ride Against Suicide will go ahead this Sunday, ending with a parade in the Royal Adelaide Show’s main arena.

Netball grand finals will be on this Saturday, with Imperials and Mypo battling it out for the trophy.

This week is also Welcoming Week; the theme is #WhereWeBelong, which focuses on the places that encourage belonging, like art galleries, libraries and the riverfront.
