Murray Mallee police are investigating recent vehicle thefts from rural properties in Tailem Bend.

Sometime between November 30 and December 14, a tractor and a motorcycle were stolen from a property on Gardener Road.

In a separate incident on December 14, thieves broke into a property on Kulde Road and stole items.

Although the property owner recovered some of the items from nearby bushland, a 1985 blue Suzuki Sierra and a yellow Suzuki quad bike are still missing.

To avoid such theft, police encourage farming property owners to:

  • remove keys from machinery and secure vehicle cabs
  • consider removing keys from machinery, particularly from machinery that is rarely used, stored outside or stored in remote areas
  • consider using a chain to secure machinery to each other or to a tree
  • mark all machinery and equipment with ID and keep an inventory with descriptions that include the serial numbers, chassis and machine model numbers.

If you have seen the missing vehicles or know their whereabouts, please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
