The spirit of Christmas endures, despite rainy weather and a last-minute venue change for Murray Bridge’s annual carols night.
About 400 people filled the show court at Murray Bridge Showground on Sunday night to sing Christmas songs, see performances and share the joy of the season.
A performance of Frozen songs by members of Murray Bridge Players and Singers was hugely popular with the younger audience members.
Mike Ashton, Camilla Pescheta, Dance SA, Murray Bridge Children’s Choir, U3A Vocalise, Murray Bridge Community Concert Band and Barney Rebel also featured.
The event by the Murray Bridge Inter-Church Council aimed, as ever, to promote the reason for the season: the birth of Jesus Christ more than 2000 years ago.
A collection was taken on the night to support the work of the chaplains – Christian pastoral support workers – in local schools.
It is not yet clear what form the event may take in 2024 and beyond; the organisers launched an appeal for donations and sponsorship last month.

Amazing evening even with the cool weather. Special thanks to the ICC (Ian Kluge and Co) for the adventurous change of venue at the last moment. Also to the special persons who decorated the Stadium and stage. The donations towards the Pastoral Care Workers for our local schools was unbelievable. Our support group Treasurer said it was in excess of $800. THANK YOU to our wonderful and thoughtful community of MB.
