The art of ballroom dancing is still alive and kicking, if the turnout at a winter dance at the Jervois hall on Saturday night is anything to go by.

About 30 people showed up to twirl and chasse across the floorboards, from the experienced Mick Fabbian – “I’ve been dancing since I was 13 and now I’m 97” – to relative newcomers.

A number of dancers had been at a ball at Bordertown on the previous evening, and changed their travel plans so they could fit in a second night of dancing.
