Twenty-six new Australians have pledged their loyalty to the nation at a citizenship ceremony in Murray Bridge.

The Square Community Centre was packed for Monday’s event as friends and family members jostled to get photos of their loved ones holding flags and smiling.

Mayor Wayne Thorley congratulated each one by one as he presented them with certificates and welcome packs.

Some were relatively newly arrived in Australia, while some had lived locally for a while after migrating from countries including China, the Philippines, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
